Having children is something which is supposed to come naturally to us. In the days when we lived in big family homes with lots of generations living together, there would have been lots of babies around and so it would have been easy to pick up what to do and learn all about things like breastfeeding which have to be taught by midwives these days. It is a bit of a shame that we no longer have this close knit family life because we could get a lot more support through the pregnancy, labor and delivery and caring for the baby afterwards. These days women seem to feel they have to take on all of the responsibility themselves and prove that they can cope on their own which is not good really. They are putting rather a lot of pressure on themselves really. They may have had trouble when TTC and then having to cope with everything else on their own after that, the stress may not be good for either them or the baby. Not all partners are that supportive so without a family it can make things pretty tough indeed. Many women are not at all prepared for how much hard work a baby can be.
